Uploading your website using Dreamweaver Print

  • 1

Open your Dreamweaver. You can either create a new page, or open a one that you have previously created. Save the start page as index.html in the same folder where the created website is located. This will be the page that will open when your domain name is typed in.

Next, please open the Site menu and select New Site.

1. In the Site Definition box that appears, please select the Local Info category. Please type in a name for your site in the Site Name field (name can be arbitrary as it will not appear on the web).

In the Local Root Folder field, specify the folder on your local disk that will contain all the files and folders for your site. You can click the folder icon to browse for the folder.

SiteGround recommends that you select the Refresh Local File List Automatically and the Enable Cache options.

In the HTTP Address field, enter the URL that your remote Web site will use, so that Dreamweaver can verify links within your site. For example, if your domain name is jtontheweb.com, you will need to put that in the field.

2. Now that you are done with the local setup, please click the Remote info category. From the Access drop down menu please select FTP.

In the FTP Host field enter the following:

where yourdomain.com is the domain name you will be uploading to. Enter www in the Host Directory field.

In the Login and Password field please type the username and the password we sent you in the Welcome e-mail.

Important notice: please select the Use Passive FTP option before clicking OK. Once finished, please click Done - that will complete the setup.
